4. Who knows the most songs with the word baby in the title. Give each guest a pad of paper and a pen. Give them an allotted amount of time to name as many songs as they can with the word baby in the title. The one with the most songs wins.

5. Change baby's diaper game. Guests are blindfolded and broken down into teams. Give each team a doll baby and a diaper. Object of game, take off doll baby's diaper, filled with melted chocolate, replace with new diaper. First team to complete task successfully, wins.

The origins of Best Friend's Day seem a bit murky. Some people feel it is a day to celebrate the four legged best friends in our lives, to reflect on how they came to be with us and to celebrate how wonderful life is with our furry friends.

The other side of that coin is the more tradition best friend, the person who has been the shoulder to cry on and the ear that listens to us day or night. A best friend is someone who will stop by out of the blue with a pound of chocolate or a bottle of wine and an expression on their face which says simply - "What can I do?"

Have you ever wondered where some of the well-known holidays (besides Christmas and Thanksgiving) have originated from? I know I have, and I'm here to help! Father's Day is one of those holiday's that you merely celebrate but have no idea how it started.

Brief History:

Father's Day is a holiday that is meant for children to honor their father's. In Spokane, Washington a woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd was listening to a sermon about Mother's Day and wondered why there was not a day to celebrate fathers. Having been raised by her father since her mother's death, Miss Dodd decided she would hold a day to celebrate her father's impact in her life.

Since her father was born in June, she chose to hold the first ever Father's Day celebration on June 19th, 2010. In New York City a national committee for Father's Day was formed in 1923. It wasn't until Nixon came to office that he made it a day of national observance in 1972.

So Father's Day came to be, from a girl who believed her father deserved recognition for all his hard work and love he had given her and her siblings over the years.

Fun fact:

Roses are the official flower of Father's Day. Red roses for those father's who are still living, white for those who have passed.

St. Patrick's Day Traditions

When one thinks about the Emerald Isle's a great many things spring to mind - the color green, corn beef and cabbage, leprechauns, St. Patrick's day, Four leaf clovers, coffee, whiskey and beer.

Ireland has a rich brewing tradition, which dates back to the middle ages. Breweries became a commercial venture in the late 1700s. By the mid 1800s there were over two hundred brewers in the country. Irish breweries were brewing - ales or beer without the use of hops. The ales tended to be dark and rich. Guinness and other brewers were using unmalted roasted barley to avoid the taxes associated with the malted barely and therefore the "traditional" bitter and dry characteristics we so often associate with Irish beer was born.

Fast-forwarding to today - St. Patrick's Day has plentiful amount of Irish beers being imported into the US now and they range in color and flavor - taste and texture. Some are employing the same time honored techniques and others are true innovators - and either way - they are true to the spirit of enterprises and fun that their forefathers employed.

Groundhog Day

While not a national holiday, it is a day of great interest and is widely followed by school children and adults alike. With origins dating back to pagan Western Europe, Groundhog Day has a rich and varied history. Its arrival in the United States is closely linked to the arrival of the Pennsylvania Dutch in the 18th century. In Europe, the badger was the animal to watch; in America it became the Groundhog, also known as the Woodchuck.

February 2 is one of the four annual cross quarters - in this case the midpoint between Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Traditionally if February 2nd, Candalmas, was sunny it indicated that more cold and snowy weather was on the way and if it rained or snowed spring was just around the corner. Therefore if the Groundhog sees his shadow, then the day is sunny and there will be more winter weather.

Groundhogs, as many forest mammals, like bears, badgers, and hedgehogs hibernate or sleep during the winter - the feeling amount medieval Europeans, was these animals had an internal alarm clock, which told them when to awaken as Spring approached. In 21st centenary America, the most famous Groundhog - Punxsutawney Phil, actually will be awoken the morning of February 2nd by his handlers and dressed in his tux for the occasion and he will whisper his prediction in his handlers anxiously awaiting ears.

In truth, his forecasting ability is not really important - his keepers will have consulted the forecast and will have his prediction ready. The awakening of Punxsutawney Phil is ceremonial and makes for a great pre-dawn celebration.
