This father's day why don't you do something different? Before you rush off and buy some expensive present dad doesn't need stop and think about your dad.
We sometimes forget that our dad's are human. They are not superheros as we tend to make them out to be in our heads. They do get sick and they do sometimes leave us. For these reasons alone, we must take the time today to tell our dad's just how much we care about them and how much we love them.
Have you ever stopped and really thought about how much your dad has done for you? Do you really think he got up every morning for all of those years to go to that job, just to have something to do? You may say he did it for the money? Why did he work so hard for that money? One main reason is to take care of you, his cherished child.
A dad, a true dad, loves the responsibility that comes with fatherhood. He actually likes taking care of his family. He likes being able to afford those sneakers you didn't need. He liked sitting in the stands as you played soccer and baseball or in those plastic chairs watching you try to play a piano or master those ballet steps.
Now that you are older it is your turn to give back a little to him. The best way in giving back to your dad is to give yourself and your time. Why don't you make this your present to your dad this father's day?
Spend time with your dad. Allow him to tell you those stories you have heard thousand of times. Go fishing with him, take him to a ball game, have a barbecue with just the two of you or share another passion of his together.
Most importantly, take the time to say, “thank you, dad, for all that you have done for me.” Tell him what a great role model he has been.
Take the time now, while you have the opportunity. Life is short and no matter how hard it is to admit it, our dad's are actually human. You never know how many Father's Days the two of you will have to share together.
